When increased sweating is a reason to see a doctor

Sweating may be an individual characteristic or a response to heat or exertion. A sudden change in your usual pattern, however, may sometimes warrant medical assessment.

An unusual onset

See a doctor if pronounced sweating begins suddenly without a clear reason, especially if you did not experience it before.

Other symptoms

Night sweats accompanied by fever, weight loss, a racing heartbeat, weakness or pain are a reason not to rely on a cosmetic product alone.

Skin and quality of life

Professional help is also appropriate when frequent skin inflammation develops or sweating noticeably affects work, sleep or social interaction. A doctor can help rule out underlying causes and discuss treatment options.
